Xavier Rudd, The Beautiful Girls, Jeff Lang and more hit Coolum Beach this weekend
18 November 2011
The Beautiful Girls play at Coolum's Golden Days Festival this saturday. From the chilled beach sounds of Xavier Rudd to frenetic folk maestro Jeff Lang or the endlessly shapeshifting Beautiful Girls, Coolum Beach's Golden Days might just be the best way to kick off the summer festival season.
Xavier Rudd, The Beautifl Girls and Jeff Lang are a collective . They've been staples on festival stages for the better part of a decade, each honing their sound and growing a dedicated following through relentless touring.
Xavier Rudd has fascinated audiences for years with his one-man-band approach to music. These days he tours as a trio by the name of Izintaba, exploring a Paul Simon Graceland sound that has been hinted at in his sound for many years. He's sounding at the top of his game with a full, rich sound.
Coming off the back of almost a year of touring solo, Mat McHugh has reformed The Beautiful Girls for their performance at Golden Days. Known for restless genre and direction changes, and with Mat still working on his solo output, exactly what form tomorrow's Beautiful Girls appearance will assume will be seen tomorrow.
Jeff Lang has been a staple of the Australian blues/roots scene for many years. He's been a direct influence to roots luminaries such as John Butler and wowed audiences across the globe with his virtuoso skills on acoustic and lap steel guitar.
The Golden Days festival bill also includes The Cruel Sea, The Beautiful Girls, Jeff Lang, Dialectrix, The Winnie Coopers, OKA, Cabins, Ashleigh Mannix, Cheap Fakes, Floating Bridges, Cleveland Blues, Stryder
