The fourth annual Australasian World Music Expo (AWME) is set to infuse the city with the sounds and rhythms of the world, offering an exotic feast for the ears with over 50 of the finest local and international artists to Melbourne on 17th – 20th November 2011.

Melbourne’s premier music venues will host non-stop shows over the four days. AMWE is thrilled to announce Nashville’s own deep funk machines The Dynamites featuring Charles Walker (USA), incendiary all Maori reggae band Katchafire (NZ), globally successful dub merchants Iration Steppas (UK), renowned jazz man Mulatu Astatke (Ethiopia) backed by the phenomenal Black Jesus Experience (AUS), reggae’s living legends The Congos (Jamaica), the mighty 30+ piece Melbourne Ska Orchestra (AUS) with legendary rocksteady reggae man Stranger Cole (Jamaica) and the eletro-gypsy fever of DJ Click (France).”

The lineup also includes: Iconic Songs featuring Archie Roach, Shane Howard and Neil Murray (Aus),  Six60 (NZ), Vika and Linda Bull (Aus), Deborah Cheetham (Aus), Public Opinion Afro Orchesta (Aus), Kylie Auldist (Aus), Lotek (US, Aus), Stiff Gins (Aus), Aaron Chulai – We Don’t Dance for No Reason (PNG/Aus), Mornington Island Dancers (Aus), Mikelangelo & the Tin Star (Aus), Mark Atkins (Aus), Pacific Curls (NZ), Collard Greens and Gravy (Aus), Richard Mogu (PNG), Naedrum (South Korea), Lindigo,(Reunion Islands/France), Merandede (Turkey), Bobby Alu (Aus), Yung Warriors (Aus), Khalil Gudaz (Afghanistan/Aus), Simangavole (Reunion Island/France), LJ Hill (Aus), Noriko Tadano (Japan/Aus), DJ Mercan Dede (Turkey), Tinpan Organge (Aus) plus more acts soon to be announced.

AWME will again kick off the festival season by bringing musicians, industry representatives and festival audiences from across Australia and around the globe together. Each year AWME attracts national and international delegates and helps raise the profile and commercial opportunities for contemporary and traditional Indigenous, roots, folk and world music artists from the region.

“This is a superb AWME lineup and guarantees our reputation as one of the finest festivals on the annual calendar while showing off musicians of the region to both punters and international delegates from festivals all over the world.  2010 saw AWME facilitate management deals, touring opportunities and festival spots all over the world for artists and we hope to follow that success with more of the same,” says Simon Raynor, Director of AWME.

AWME will make a final lineup announcement for the 2011 program on 9 September.

AWME bringing a world of music to Melbourne from 17th – 20th November at the Arts Centre, The HiFi and the Toff In Town. Tickets for all shows are on sale now from the venues.
