Grinderman to headline Meredith Music Festival

The 21st Meredith Music Festival has just dropped its first line-up teaser in the form of headliner Grinderman; the current project of Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Martin Casey and Jim Sclavunos.

When Mick Harvey left the Bad Seeds following the polarising Dig, Lazurus, Dig, the crux of the band moved onto Grinderman; a raucously loose clusterfuck of dirty rock n roll as loud as Nick Cave's time with the Birthday Party. Basing themselves in the UK, Grinderman too, tended to polarise audiences, one hand calling it a vapid mid-life crisis, the other an inspired attempt of letting go of the pretense that plagued Cave's work in the late 90's. Following the Dirty Three's headlining set at the 2010 Meredith Music Festival, it seems you just can't keep Warren Ellis away from the supernatural ampitheatre. In 2011, Grinderman will headline the festival's 21st birthday.

Set to run over the 9th, 10th and 11th of December in the rural town of Meredith in Victoria's north-west, the 21st Meredith Music Festival is already set to be a cracker with just a single announcement.
