Held over two nights and a day in the New South Wales Hunter Valley, the Gum Ball Festival has announced a handful of names to kick start their preparations for their 2011 festival.

Contrary to popular belief, the Andrew Johns drug addiction wasn't the Hunter Valley's best kept secret. It was, and is, the Gum Ball. Tucked into stunning bushland surrounds, the Gum Ball is a low capacity festival that more than exceeds its stature with some incredible good times. This year's festival (of which you can read up on here) was one of the best days out we had in 2010 and with the names dropped for 2011's effort, there's no doubt that The Gum Ball will satisfy yet again.

Topping the first announcement is consumate Bluesman C.W. Stoneking and His Primitive Horn Orchestra, Melbourne funk chanteuse's The Bamboos, the voice of Jordie Lane, the magic of Eagle and the Worm and rollicking Blues outfit Chase the Sun. Tack on one man band Claude Hay and Newcastle locals Bowen & The Lucky Dutchmen and you've got yourself the beginnings to what will certainly be an amazingly good time.

With a dozen more acts set to join the line-up and earlybird tickets on sale now, we wholeheartedly recommend that you get your Gum boots prepped for the Gum Ball. Still not convinced? Try BYO booze, on-site camping, on-site art, markets, bonfires, games and prizes on for size and you've got all the ingredients for the best bush party of 2011.

Stick around these parts for some special announcements regarding the 2011 Gum Ball.
