Musician, activist and poet Michael Franti returns to Australia next year for Bluesfest. Alongside his east and west coast festival appearances will be a handful of headline shows in other capital cities.

Renowned for his love of Australia and his tours over the years, Franti returns yet again with a new album as a followup to 2008's All Rebel Rockers. His latest album The Sound Of Sunshine has been called his most cohesive, romantic and life-affirming.

The Sound Of Sunshine to communicate a sense of hope and possibility for anybody who needs it. Ironically, often joyous and uplifting The Sound Of Sunshine actually came out of a darker and tougher personal experience for Franti. “Last August, my appendix ruptured suddenly in the middle of a tour and I ended up in the hospital for eight days. I almost died and, during that time, I really took a moment to prioritize what’s truly important in my life -- and in the end, that’s really about the people who I love.  Even in that hospital, I could laugh with the people I love, cry with them, and start to find the sun again,” Franti explains.

Throughout his career, Franti has earned and maintained a reputation as one of the best live acts in the business. Franti & Spearhead are sure to deliver an electrically charged, and ultimately unforgettable, musical experience for fans.
