Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder has announced today his first ever solo tour of Australia. The legendary rocker will play a string of intimate solo shows at theatres around Australia next March.

Following on from a stadium tour of Australia last November and the accompanying Backspacer album that debuted at number one on the Australian charts, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder takes things in an entirely different direction for a special 2011 tour.

Known almost as much for his soulful balladry as his heavy rockers, Eddie Vedder is known to his time between Pearl Jam albums and tours to connect with crowds in a softer, more intimate manner. Armed with a guitar and an impressive catalogue of Pearl Jam and solo material as well as covers, Eddie Vedder's solo shows are as intimate as they are rare.

Eddie Vedder will hit the road in March 2011 for a string of dates at some of the country's most renowned and intimate concert theatres.

Tickets go on sale December 10, 9am local time.
