A  price tag of over $1 million dollars has been placed over a warehouse blaze in San Carlos, California owned by rock legend Neil Young. Amongst the wreckage were cars, instruments, electronics and film footage.

A month after releasing his stunning 33rd record Le Noise, Rock n Roll fame inductee Neil Young has reportedly lost $800 000 worth of property in a warehouse fire in San Carlos, California. Adding $300 ooo of warehouse damage to push the bill up past the million mark and the fire is responsible for the loss not only of a whole stack of cash, but some pieces of Neil Young history as well.

Amongst the items of Young's that faced the blaze were six classic cars - no surprise considering the subject matter of Chrome Dreams II and his long-term fascination with vehicles of America's past, including the fateful hearse that united Young with Stephen Stills in the formation of Buffalo Springfield - a few instruments, electronic equipment and swathes of film.

Young has directed and written a series of films over the years from 1973's maligned Journey Through the Past to 2008 Sundance closer CSNY/Deja Vu. Whether the film that may have been lost included some used in those flicks or not, it's almost certain that endless reels of tour footage stemming from Young's documented passion for Super 8 was amongst the warehoused items. While a majority of the stored items were reported as saved by San Carlos firemen, it's likely that enough has been lost to at least pluck a few stress-induced hairs from the rock legend's mane.

Recently reforming the Buffalo Springfield at 2010's Bridge School Benefit and putting out a stunning online film project featuring the entirety of his latest album Le Noise alongside a continuous film clip (which you can view here,) Young is certainly busy enough to not let this phase him too much...after all, you don't go dropping some of the risky albums he has in the past if you're concerned about the odd warehouse fire.
