Blending alt-country, folk and indie, America's Pieta Brown is making her first venture to Australia for two special dates alongside her appearance at the Mullum Music Festival.

The granddaughter of two preachers, she had lived in 17 different houses in Iowa and Alabama by the time she moved out at 18. Now, the hypnotic melodies and raw, soul-tinged grooves of Pieta Brown are bringing her across the world to Australian shores. With the influences of the American heartland not lost her, Brown toys with a unique brand of folk, blues and alt-country thrusting her into the touring spotlight underneath names like Calexico, Mason Jennings, Ani DiFranco and Mark Knopfler.

Pieta Brown signed with respected US label Red House Records after her critically acclaimed album Remember the Sun (2007), releasing the 2009's Shimmer, an EP of stripped-down alt-country songs recorded by legendary producer Don Was (Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Rolling Stones). With her new album One and All, Pieta Brown has been hailed one of America's best modern songwriters and promises to demonstrate just why all the kind words and big names have been following her around as she ventures to Australian shores.

Appearing at the Mullum Music Festival in Northern New South Wales, Brown has just added two dates in Melbourne and Sydney in their accompaniment, with details below:

November 22nd
The Basement, Sydney NSW

November 23rd and 24th
Northcote Social Club, Melbourne VIC

November 25th, 26th and 27th
Mullum Music Festival, Mullumbimby NSW
