The Hold Steady and Os Mutantes leak 2011 Golden Plains Appearance
2 November 2010
Straight from the horses mouths on Melbourne cup day, two very big leaks have hit the web for 2011's Golden Plains festival.
With 2010's Meredith Music Festival preparing itself for it's December weekend in rural Victoria, two very big murmurings have hit the internet for Meredith's 2011 sister festival, Golden Plains. Always known for hosting a discerning line-up of names, a couple of leaks from the band's official websites have promised that 2011 will be no different.
Brooklyn rockers The Hold Steady were first off the blocks, listing a Golden Plains appearance on their official website. Known for their boisterous bar-band antics with the inspired down-on-luck vocals of Craig Finn, The Hold Steady have been absent from our shores since their appearance at 2008's Laneway Festival. With a new record to their name in Heaven is Whenever, it was inevitable that they'd make the trek south again eventually, and in 2011, it will be Golden Plains that hosts them.
Also adding the info to their tour page, 1960's Brazilian psychedlia act Os Mutantes have also confirmed their appearance at Golden Plains. Commonly recognised as innovators of the era, but largely unknown by the common music fan, the announcement of Os Mutantes is a huge one to suit the Golden Plains/Meredith trend of mixing the latest bands with dips from the past.
While other rumours continue to circle the net with little backing them up, you only have to wait a couple of days for the full Golden Plains announcement which you can no doubt find right here in three days time.
The ballot for Golden Plains tickets is open until the 9th of November, with tickets due to go on sale shortly after. Golden Plains will run on the 12th - 14th of March.
