Sydney's Perry Keyes has made a name for himself of late with great reviews surrounding his 2010 release Johnny Ray's Downtown. In support of the album he played two nights at the Sydney Opera House with accompanying rare film footage which he's just slipped onto the net.

We've made it no secret around these parts that we're pretty big fans of Perry Keyes. Describing his 2010 album Johnny Ray's Downtown as "painting a diverse portrait from some of the seediest to some of the most innocent aspects of the city’s culture," we were fast to fall for Perry's unique storytelling ability that was uniquely and all-encompassingly Australian.

Not too long after the release of Johnny Ray's Downtown, Perry Keyes played two nights at the Sydney Opera House under the moniker of 'Perry Keyes' Sydney,' a display of his most Sydney-centric songs alongside special guests Tim Freedman, Bernie Hayes, Dave McCormack, L.J. Hill and Bek-Jean Stewart. It was after one of those very Opera House shows that had us claim that Perry Keyes had "taken up a place in music that has been, to this date, unfilled; as South Sydney's guitar-driven biographer."

Now, with more than three months passed, one of the night's highlights in the form of a stunning film reel of Sydney's formative years has gone online to the tune of Keyes' 'Bobby the Burning Dog.' Check out the clip below, featuring footage spanning decades of Sydney's rapid build into what is now Australia's largest city.
