Located in Melbourne's CBD, Curtin House has announced the Happy Mondays Festival; two months worth of Monday night tunes featuring acts like Washed Out, El Guincho, Dan Kelly, Those Darlins and Charlie Parr.

For eight consecutive Mondays over summer, a series of handpicked local and international bands will huff their way up the eight flights of stairs at Melbourne's Curtin House in the CBD to perform on the scenic rooftop stage in front of a strictly limited capacity crowd.

The festival launches with a rare double bill featuring two of the most refreshing dance music makers around. Spanish one man band El Guincho’s mix of afrobeat, pop, dub, tropicália, and early rock'n'roll will be complimented by the laid back sounds of US producer Washed Out, the flag bearer of the chillwave movement. This is space age exotica meets some seriously mellow synth pop. The perfect way to bring in summer and come down from the Meredith Music Festival.

Specialising in three minute guitar pop jams, the gents of Dan Kelly’s Dream Band will pair up with US beauties Those Darlins', three gals from Nashville with a brazen love of rollicking country guitar licks, loud angular punk rock drums and Dolly Parton style sing-a-longs. That's Monday number two.

Meanwhile, US solo musician Charlie Parr will wrap up December with his fierce, floorthumping and utterly rollicking live show. Charlie will be joined by a soon-to-be-announced special guest band (there's a clue!) in early December.

With a massive January program set to be announced, the most spectacular city views and an extremely limited capacity, this will be a very special summer event not to miss. Check out Curtin House's Happy Mondays Summer Rooftop Festival on the following dates:

Monday 13 December 2010 – Monday 31 January 2011

Rooftop Bar, Curtin House. Level 7, 252 Swanston Street Melbourne
