Strange Tourist

After a critically acclaimed solo tour earlier this year, The Drones frontman Gareth Liddiard is set to return with his debut solo album, Strange Tourist, due for release through Shock on October 1st.

Touted as a stripped-bare version of his material, Liddiard is set to take the stage with nothing but an acoustic guitar. Having recorded Strange Tourist at Havilah, the rural retreat in Victoria where The Drones developed their own release of the same name, Liddiard has this time opted for a raw, simple and open style, playing on both courage and vulnerability with the unpretentious setup.

With songs spanning desolation, dark humour and witty observations, Shock promise Strange Tourist to be a distinctly Australian release. The simple, stripped-back stage set up allows no place to hide, and is guaranteed to place Liddiard – and his lyrics – right in the spotlight.

Strange Tourist is due for release through Shock on October 1st, and Liddiard will be touring throughout November.
