Jeff Martin & Terepai Richmond tour nationally
23 September 2010
Jeff Martin (The Tea Party) and Terepai Richmond (dIG / THE WHITLAMS) came together for what was to be a one-off exclusive show in Sydney back in August. Given that the artists hadn’t actually rehearsed, or had even met prior to the show, the two hit it off famously, playing off of each other as if they’d been jamming together for years. So much so, Jeff & Terepai have forged together to take to the road on their National World’s Apart tour throughout November/December 2010.
Jeff Martin states, “Throughout my career, I have been blessed to work with some of the greatest drummers in music today. Terepai Richmond is no exception to the rule. His incredible work in the world of jazz fusion, especially with his band dig, has captivated my imagination and fuelled a fire to push the parameters of my music both past and present towards an exciting future.” Likewise, the experience for Terepai was equally enriching – “Making music with Jeff is like riding the night winds of an Arabian storm…his dynamics create such powerful places for me to adventure.”
Prior to the tour commencing, Saturday October 2 & Sunday October 3 will see Jeff partake in the AIMS (Australian International Music Show) at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Over the course of the two days, Jeff will hold a workshop and perform as well as feature in the Fender Jamming Session. Through the remainder of October, Jeff will hit Perth’s Roving Jo Jo Studios to record a new studio album with J Cortez (Sleepy Jackson/The Armada) and Malcolm Clarke (Sleepy Jackson/Basement Birds). That album, ‘The Ground Cries Out’, is scheduled for release in early 2011.
Back to the WORLDS APART tour, what can fans expect? We’ll leave the last words to Mr Martin, “The shows that will be performed will be unchartered territory, massive ethereal jams between two musicians from two very different worlds. The bond that has already occurred between myself and Terepai is already strong and familiar. To both my fans and the fans of Terepai... expect the unexpected!”
