Clare Bowditch releases Modern Day Addiction with national tour

It all started with the release of Modern Day Addiction. Whilst most musicians celebrate the release of their album in a spa with a bottle of bubbly (well, that’s what Kanye would do, anyway..) Clare Bowditch interviewed Julia Gillard for a one-on-one MySpace today blog.  Why Clare and not Andrew Denton?  Who really knows?

But the resulting video got down to the nitty gritty of mental health reform, same sex marriage, how to do the perfect Julia impersonation, environmental leadership and, obviously, the PMs music taste (Bruce Springsteen and Cold Chisel – that aint surprising! But Lady Gaga? Wow!)

One week later, Modern Day Addiction arrived in the #10 position on the ARIA album chart, Clare’s highest position ever and a major coup for this independent thinker.  Along the way, she picked up the ABC Radio National album-of-the-week.  And finally, as if all that wasn’t enough, Clare was personally invited to be Leonard Cohen’s guest on his 2010 Australian tour.  At Leonard’s request, Clare will perform solo, or as a duo . . . we’ll fill you in later, a surprise ending is far more attractive!

Clare’s eight-piece New Slang band, however, are a rare and marvellous sight. To catch them at full-stride, you’ll need to rally at the Modern Day Addiction album tour. Glenn Richards (Augie March) will be special guest for all shows, debuting new tracks from his forthcoming solo album.  Throw in some fantastical local supports such as Little Scout, Hello Satellites, The Stoics and Andy Bull at sensational venues and you’ve got one heck of a tour to look forward to.
