Nicholas Roy releases debut album and tours nationally with The Audreys

With the recent release of his debut album '…in a shoebox under the bed', and an extensive National tour to follow, the time is right for Nicholas Roy to shine.

Since 2006, the Melbourne based piano player/singer-songwriter has been hard at work playing, writing, home recording & self-funding his own videos.    Nicholas’ DIY approach has seen the fruits of his labour rewarded with a great level of community radio & Triple J support for a number of singles – Devilish Smile, Taxi, Dangerous Games and…It’s All My Fault.  

In December 2009, Triple J’s Richard Kingsmill introduced Nicholas’ song It’s All My Fault on his program, the infectious track (featuring melodic, soulful vocals) has since been championed by listeners across the country, resulting in being voted # 1 on Super Request, reaching # 1 on the JJJ Unearthed Indie chart, and being listed on the JJJ Hitlist.   More airplay followed with Before The World Collapses and Walls.

‘…in a shoebox under the bed’, Nicholas’ debut album through indie label Little Tribe/MGM, was recorded in a home studio environment and is an eclectic mix of edgy pop, electro, R&B and soul.  Influenced by the likes of Radiohead, Peter Gabriel, Ben Folds Five, Jeff Buckley, Beck and…Elton John!, Nicholas has come up with a unique & dynamic sounding album which is sure to leave its mark with the discerning listener.     

On the live front, Nicholas has snapped up some very special shows across the country throughout September, October & November.  Nic supports The Whitlams for a few select shows in September, before an extensive run supporting alt/country/roots’ darlings The Audreys on their ‘Sometimes The Stars’ National Tour.  Don’t miss!
