Just when you thought One Movement for Music Perth (OMFM) couldn’t pack any more punch into Perth following the first, stellar Festival line-up announcement, the organisers have announced the lineup for One Movement Music for Festival, by Twilight, featuring legends like Sarah McLachlan, Paul Kelly and Todd Rundgren.

OMFM are pleased to announce another exciting dimension to their cultural music event. One Movement Music Festival, by Twilight will be held at The Esplanade from 5.00pm on Friday, 8 October, 2010, so, like so many other cities around the world, people can leave work meet up with friends, colleagues and partners and get straight into enjoying life, avoiding those Friday traffic jams and packed transport routines. The line-up is one of artists that have already received great levels of success and have all been excited in joining an event that fosters and exposes new talent

The line up is an electrifying bunch of musicians with the likes of multi-Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter Sarah McLachlan (Can), leading the charge along with songbirds Court Yard Hounds (Dixie Chicks) (USA), Todd Rundgren’s Johnson (USA), Aussie icon Paul Kelly (Aust), Kate Miller-Heidke (Aust), Pink Martini (USA), Lil’ Band O’ Gold (USA), Mama Kin (Aust) and Kadangyan (Phil) – all set to take the stage amidst the gorgeous backdrop of The Esplanade.

Co-promoter, Michael Chugg, said today “Because of the success and outcomes of the inaugural One Movement for Music Festival last year, the interest in this year’s event has reached new levels.  This is reflected in the amazingly high calibre of acts with million selling albums, and many Grammies, between them performing at One Movement Music for Festival, by Twilight which is turning One Movement into a huge, heavyweight international festival which will go from strength to strength. We are honoured that we can bring you these amazing acts for such a value-money ticket price and we look forward to seeing them here in Perth”

First Announcement One Movement Music Festival, by Twilight Artists:

Sarah McLachlan (Can) – In June, 2010, this Grammy Award–winning singer and songwriter released of Laws of Illusion, her first studio album of new material in seven years, since the double–platinum Afterglow in 2003, and its twelve songs rank with the most compelling work ever created by this gifted artist.  In the years between these two releases, Sarah has married, separated, and is raising two young daughters. These crucial life experiences have enriched her artistry and infused her new songs with the full range and complexity of adult emotions. Sarah McLachlan has sold over 40 million recordings worldwide since her recording career began in 1988 with her debut album Touch and OMFM are thrilled to have her bringing “A Taste of Lilith” to Perth to headline the Twilight Festival.

Court Yard Hounds (USA) – Strictly speaking, it’s only a few feet from stage left or stage right to the centre spotlight, but it took Martie Maguire and Emily Robison a couple of decades to move those couple of yards.  As the mainstays of the Dixie Chicks since they formed the group in 1989, the sisters have been familiar faces to many millions of fans, yet just a little mysterious in that familiarity, content as they were to cede the lead vocalist position and remain music’s most recognizable “side women”.

Todd Rundgren’s Johnson (USA) - This show features a collection of classic Robert Johnson songs interpreted and re-crafted by legendary American recording artist, producer (Meatloaf, New York Dolls) and songwriter, Todd Rundgren. After impressing crowds as part of the 2010 Sydney Festival's Rogue's Gallery, Rundgren will be back on our shores to present his latest project to Perth at OMFM.

Paul Kelly (Aust) – Paul Kelly is an Australian music legend.  At an age when many songwriters struggle to keep the juices flowing, the songs keep pouring from Kelly as he continues to explore fresh musical terrain, from classic albums recorded with his band, The Boon Companions, to acoustic bluegrass (with Uncle Bill on Smoke and the Storm Water Boys on Foggy Highway), the feel good collaboration bands Professor Ratbaggy and The Stardust Five and the massive Paul Kelly A-Z concert project, subsequently released online at Kelly's website.

Kate Miller-Heidke (Aust) – A brilliantly tangled mix of exuberance and invention, fearlessness and fun, Kate Miller-Heidke released her sophomore album Curiouser last year which peaked at No. 2 in the Australian ARIA album charts. With extensive airplay on Australian radio her national Curiouser album launch tour sold out Australia-wide and its second single, Caught in the Crowd, has recently been announced as the grand prize-winner of the prestigious 2009 International Songwriting Competition. Kate’s track was chosen as the unanimous winner from over 17,000 entries across the world by a panel of judges including Tom Waits, Robert Smith, Neil Finn, Ray Davies, Jerry Lee Lewis, Rob Thomas, Black Francis, Weird Al Yankovic and Loretta Lynn.

Pink Martini (USA) – Comprised of twelve musicians, Pink Martini performs its multilingual repertoire on concert stages and with symphony orchestras throughout Europe, Asia, Greece, Turkey, the Middle East, Northern Africa, Australia and New Zealand and North America.  In 1998 Pink Martini made its European debut at the Cannes Film Festival and its orchestral debut with the Oregon Symphony under the direction of Norman Leyden. Since then, the band has gone on to play with over 25 orchestras around the world, including multiple engagements with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Boston Pops, the National Symphony and the BBC Concert Orchestra.

Lil’ Band O’ Gold (USA) – It's time to get your dancing shoes back on, the Lil' Band O' Gold is heading back for more! The Louisiana supergroup who won the hearts and souls of all at Bluesfest in Byron Bay at Easter are returning for shows all over the country. The Lil' Band O' Gold shows promise to deliver a sweet and soulful journey with their mixture of energetic romps and soulful ballads delivering the diverse musical goods that are the band’s hallmark. It is a musical tour de force that any true music lover cannot afford to miss.

Mama Kin (Aust) – Mama Kin is equal parts raconteur and soulstress: a sassy femme fatale who draws on her experiences of love, life and heartache. Her bittersweet melodies soar with stomping piano and swampy beats, traversing the riotous, the raw and the intimate.  Drawing inspiration from the songbird greats, Mama Kin’s music is powerful and gut-wrenchingly honest.

Kadangyan (Phil) – Kadangyan is a five-piece band that formed in 2000 in Cebu City who first came together as a group of visual and performing artists and found a connection through music and their devotion to Philippine culture.  Their music is a fusion of Filipino ethnic beats and rock music, using indigenous instruments and adding modern drums and bass guitar.
