  • One Movement for Music (2010)

One Movement for Music Perth (OMFM) is once again shaping up to be one of the most important music events in the Southern Hemisphere after establishing itself as a groundbreaking event in its inaugural year. A pioneering music industry conference, hosted by MUSEXPO, and Festival for the Asia Pacific Region, OMFM is proud to unveil the artists set to perform at this stand out event to be held 6 to 10 October, 2010.

This year’s line-up is a step up from last year and is set to impress with a dynamic group of artists hailing from Australia to the UK, from Canada to India, and all that’s in between. With a vast range of musical influences covered, there is sure to be something for everyone. So, without further adieu:

Weekend Festival – Saturday, 9 and Sunday, 10 October, 2010 at The Esplanade:

We are pleased to be welcoming to the Weekend Festival stage come October Aussie favourites: Xavier Rudd, Grinspoon, Children Collide and British India.  Rising stars of the Australian music scene also set to take the stage are Operator Please, Drapht, Cloud Control, Sally Seltmann. And emerging acts of 2010, Gypsy And The Cat, An Horse, Hungry Kids Of Hungary, Parades, Richard In Your Mind, Boy & Bear, The Melodics, Tim & Jean, The Holidays, The Only, The Paper Scissors, Purple Sneakers DJ’s, The Chemist and once again Triple J brings us a fresh breed of Aussie talent with Unearthed High winners, Stonefield and Triple J Unearthed State Winners (to be announced).

Travelling far and wide to be a part of our international contingent are Ben Kweller (USA), Shapeshifter (NZ), Dengue Fever (USA), ZE! (Malaysia), Delta Spirit (USA), Via Tania (USA), Raghu Dixit (India Jonneine Zapata (USA), Bedouin Soundclash (Can), KORA (NZ), The Telephones (Japan), Melodramas (UK), Liz Green (UK), Get Dexter (UK) and The Great Spy Experiment (Sing).

Several acts who helped to make OMFM 2009 as impressive and successful as it was are returning to do it all again in 2010. Based on the great outcomes from last year we are overjoyed to be welcoming back to the Festival stage Melburnian electronica gods, Miami Horror, South Korea’s glam pop/rockers, Biuret, modern-day troubadour, Australia’s own Dan Sultan, Aussie alternative rockers Dead Letter Circus, and Passenger from the UK.

Congratulations to Get Dexter (UK) & The Paper Scissors who were the Sonicbids winning bands chosen to perform at this year’s One Movement Music Festival.

Industry Showcases – Wednesday, 6 October to Sunday, 10 October, 2010:

This year’s Industry Showcases are shaping up to be HUGE!  With more acts than last year, many of which are exclusive to the showcases, more venues, more days and more breaking bands, this really is your chance to discover some cutting edge acts performing in unique spaces in the city.  Acts from all over the world including USA, Canada, UK, Japan, Korea, Russia and India, plus a whole host of local bands will showcase their wares to the assembled heavy weights of the music industry.

This year One Movement has commandeered new exclusive showcase venues including parking areas at The Amplifier and Dillettante. Adding to these unique urban One Movement venue spaces is the nearby cafe Tiger Tiger. Live music stomping grounds, the Amplifier Bar and Capitol are also new welcome additions to the 2010 showcase program.

The wonderfully converted Wolf Lane Carpark and boutique drinking spot, the Belgian Beer Café, will both also see a return of great talent.

Some of this year’s showcase artists include internationals Dzham (Rus), Colin Moore (Can), Rubylux (UK), The Respectables (Can), Final Flash (Can), Lost Souls Club (UK), The Trews (Can) The Circus (Ind) and Two Hours Traffic (Can) and from Australia: Drawn From Bees, OKA, The Jezabels, Cameras, Metals, Bloodpoets, MM9, Big Scary, The Audreys, Pikelet, Blackchords,  Skybombers, Daniel Ratta, Papa vs Pretty, Pez and Ernest Ellis.
