For one weekend only, Sydney's barely known biographer Perry Keyes, is playing two shows at the Sydney Opera House. Featuring Tim Freedman, Dave McCormack and Bernie Hayes as guests, it promises to be a sparkling night of clever storytelling.

He's turned 42, kept afloat as a taxi driver and won album of the year awards...and now he's playing two nights at the Studio in Sydney's Opera House. Perry Keyes, former frontman of the Stolen Holdens and the scribe behind this year's fantastic album 'Johnny Ray's Downtown' is bringing along a handful of guests for these intimate nights of music, including Tim Freedman (The Whitlams), Dave McCormack (Custard) and Bernie Hayes. With all that said, it promises to be a fantastic night of music from the hearts of some of the country's favourite songwriters with a deep streak of Australiana contained within. But don't let me do the talking for you, let the Opera House's own blurb save me time and effort:

"Experience PERRY KEYES' SYDNEY, ninety minutes of Perry's most Sydney-centric songs performed with a backdrop of rare film and video.

Expect rare footage of Sydney Stadium, Redfern in the 1960s (and today),  John Sattler 's broken jaw, underworld figures, footage of the Oils doing Wedding Cake Island, South Sydney Rabbitohs, Luna Park and other iconic landmarks.

The most insightful songwriter dealing with the underside of Sydney to emerge in the past decade takes you on a unique journey through his Sydney; the hidden Sydney you don't see in guide books and on postcards."

You can catch Perry Keyes and friends at the Sydney Opera House this weekend on Saturday and Sunday, July 24th and 25th respectively, with tickets available here.
