Peats Ridge pre-release tickets available soon
5 July 2010
Peat Ridge is already well on it’s way with planning for the 2010 New Years celebration. As part of the Festivals commitment to provide a high value event and to reward loyal patrons, there will be a strictly limited offering of discounted pre-release tickets. These tickets traditionally sell extremely fast, so get in early to save disappointment. Tickets will be available through Oztix, via the Peats Ridge website, at 9am on Monday July 12th.
2010 has already been an exciting year for Peats Ridge, with the Festival being invited by the United Nations to be a founding partner of the UN Music and Environment Initiative. Festival director Matt Grant attended the United Nations office in Norway, alongside Festival heavyweights Glastonbury, Roskilde and Lollapoolooza, to brainstorm ways in which the Music Industry and Festivals can help people achieve environmental change. Peats Ridge was honoured to be the only organisation invited from the Southern Hemisphere.
As a result of the meeting Peats Ridge will be heading up a global task force looking at ways in which green technology can assist the music industry and help festivals reduce their environmental impact. The ‘Technical Solutions’ task force will also look at cross industry environmental solutions and ways in which the knowledge gleaned from building festivals sustainably can be transferred to disaster relief scenarios. The Music and Environment Initiative will be launched officially later in the year.
This year Peats Ridge has also taken out the 2010 ‘Greener Festival’ Award, topping the Australian Festival Category with the ‘Outstanding’ stamp. Peats Ridge joined a record breaking 8 Australian Festivals in receiving this prestigious award. As A Greener Festival quoted: "Peats Ridge Festival really does include a greener alternative to everything"
In 2009 the Festival saw the musical magic of top Australian artists alongside international heavy weights such as Lamb, Passenger and Dan Mangan grace the stages. While Mount Mocha Kilimanjaro, from Japan were introduced to Australia (by Peats Ridge) with roaring crowd excitement and enthusiasm!
The line up for the 2010 event as well as all media partners will be announced in August.
Festival Director, Matt Grant says of this years Festival:
"For the 2010 Festival we're going to focus on building on our winning formula and delivering a higher class festival in terms of our patrons' experience. There'll be a top lineup of music - lots of bands you know and some for you to discover, an extensive and interactive arts program and of course the experience of camping in the beautiful Glenworth Valley. It's really a chance to unwind, get a bit silly and imagine what the world would be like were it a perfect place... Which it is down in the valley."
Held over New Years, from December 29th to January 1st, in the luscious Glenworth Valley NSW, Peats Ridge 2010 is sure to amaze and inspire. Encompassing music, art, sustainability and culture the Festival is a wealth of fresh and innovative creativity.
