Melbourne band The Temper Trap have taken out the coveted Song Of The Year gong for their Platinum hit single Sweet Disposition at the 2010 APRA Awards.

The award, voted for by their peers, caps off a massive twelve months for the band.  Their critically acclaimed debut album Conditions first debuted on the Australian charts in June 2009 at #9.  It has since gone on to achieve Platinum status, with worldwide sales in excess of 500,000.

The single Sweet Disposition was first released in January 2009, initially securing moderate success and notable radio airplay.  It wasn’t, however, until the single reached #6 on the UK charts in October 2009 and the band returned to perform at that years ARIA Awards that the singles true promise was realised, reaching #14 on the ARIA singles chart while Conditions returned to the Top 20 of the album chart for months to follow.

To date Sweet Disposition has sold more than 750,000 worldwide, and has been a Top 40 hit in Australia (#14), New Zealand, the UK (#6), Ireland, Holland, Japan, Italy and Greece.  In the US – arguably one of the hardest markets in the world to crack – Sweet Disposition has featured in both the Top 20 Rock and Top 10 Alternative charts, with sales in excess of 300,000 to date.

The International story for The Temper Trap continues to grow. Earlier this year the band performed at prominent US festivals Coachella and Bonnaroo, as well as performing a series of sold out headline dates across the US in March.   Upcoming appearances at Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, V Festival, T In The Park and a headline tour of the UK playing to 35,000 will continue to showcase to fans their critically acclaimed live set.

The Temper Trap return for a sold out headline tour of Australia in July this year, plus an appearance at the sold out Splendour In The Grass.

Conditions album is out now through Liberation Music.
