Gearing up for the release of their debut album Wire Empire in October, Mr Maps has just released its double A-side single ‘Nice Fights’. To coincide with this release, the instrumental Brisbane quintet has also announced an extensive single launch tour throughout June and July.

Catch Mr Maps on Friday 25 June at Fans in Brisbane, Thursday 1 July at Pony in Melbourne, Saturday 3 July at The National Hotel in Geelong, Thursday 8 July at The Excelsior in Sydney, Friday 9 July as part of MUM at World Bar in Kings Cross, and Saturday 10 July at Lass O’Gowrie in Newcastle.

A giddy rush of mathematical manoeuvres and angular grooves, ‘Nice Fights’ falls away into the occasional reflective moment only to jet back into the foreground complemented by frantic drumming and bombastic unison lines. Accompanied by the additional A-side ‘Fly, You Monumental Mistake’, which carefully walks the line between ethereal subtlety and aggressive energy, these two tracks are like nothing you’ve heard before.

Mr. Maps began in 2007 as a dynamic live ensemble featuring the beautifully crafted compositions of Chris Perren. Since then, the band has earned a reputation for transcendental live performances showcasing complex layers of bass, drums and guitar lifted by lush piano and cello, and punctuated by electronic glitches and tones. Described as "inspired", "energetic" and "breathtaking" sonic comparisons have been made to Battles, Tortoise, toe, and 65daysofstatic.

Mr. Maps celebrate the release of ‘Nice Fights’ with an extensive single launch tour throughout June and July. Copies of the double A-side single will be available at all shows.
