The Gum Ball Festival - Hunter Valley (28th & 29th of May)
24 May 2010
Free this weekend? So is a little patch of bush in the Hunter Valley for the Gum Ball, two nights and a day of top music including that of the Public Opinion Afro Orchestra, Astronomy Class, The Basics, The Snowdroppers and many, many more.
With one of the finest and most diverse line ups of any emerging music festival in Australia, the 6th annual Gum Ball Music & Arts Festival, will be rolling into the bush Friday 28th May, with the main event taking place on Saturday 29th May.
Over the last few years, this boutique music and arts event has rapidly built a reputation as one of the more laid back and exclusive festivals on the map. Locally renowned for quality live music and excessive good times, nationally it’s become increasingly likened to an early Meredith or Falls festival.
With this year’s pre release tickets selling out in record time and now with two nights on the program, Gum Ball 2010 is no doubt on its way to becoming the biggest ball yet.
Located at “Dashville,” a secluded natural bushland estate at Belford in the Hunter Valley, just 2 hours North of Sydney and 1 hour west of Newcastle, the super relaxed weekend festival works hard each year to provide the ultimate musical program with something for everyone. Encompassing a mixed bag of musical assortment, the festival showcases around 20 live acts from around the country, ranging from blues to funk, soul & hip hop, to straight out country rock and roll and this year looks to be the biggest and best so far.
SOME OF THE LINE UP THIS YEAR INCLUDES :
World renowned 16 piece super act The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra,
Melbourne pop rockers The Basics,
Latin rhythm machine Tijuana Cartel,
Reggae hip hop stars Astronomy Class,
ARIA blues award winners Collard Greens & Gravy,
Soul hip-hop superstars on the rise Laneous & The Family Yah,
Coastal blues patrol Marshall & The Fro,
ABC Newcastle Vocalist of the Year Zoe K with her 10 piece Band of Lost Souls
Triple J unearthed winner Abbie Cardwell,
Vulgar country rockers The Snowdroppers,
Hard hitting two piece blues act Jackson Firebird.
We here at Soulshine are especially excited about the festival and are sending a carload of us along for photo's, review's and good, honest ticketed fun. Check out our blog, SoundPlug, for some firm words as to why exactly you should be dragging yourself along to this kicker of a festival.
