The latest offering from the world of Washington is the stunning new EP, ‘RICH KIDS’ out now.  The confident title track is intelligent pop at its best and will urge you to break out in dance, much like the enigmatic front woman Megan does in the accompanying video. Check out the video here.

The eagerly anticipated debut album from Washington I BELIEVE YOU, LIAR is scheduled for release on 30 July 2010.  The album was recorded in the back yard shed in the home of co-conspirator and collaborator, John Castle’s parents in Melbourne over a period of months this year.

Inspired by childhood, mortality, dispassionate love and the unconscious, I BELIEVE YOU, LIAR was written during a time when Meg’s life was in a stage of extreme flux and songwriting was a method of creating some structure, some tangibility within the shifting landscape.  Meg explains, ’For me, this record is thematically focused on duality and the impossible co-existence of dichotomous ideas. There are no love songs on this record, nor are there any breakup songs; only polaroids of social and emotional contradictions.’

Since their conception in 2008, Washington has won the Triple J unearthed competition and the inaugural Vanda and Young songwriting competition for ‘How To Tame Lions’. They performed a sold-out tour in February this year and have toured with the likes of Kate Miller-Heidke, Sia, Camille and Tim Finn. And after one memorable appearance on SBS’s RockWiz, Meg was invited on the show’s tour in March 2010.

Meg has also collaborated with Tim Finn and Paul Kelly, and Keith Urban recently invited her to perform a duet at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.

Washington will embark on a two-month tour as special guests for the Beautiful Girls in June and July.  They will then venture north to perform a coveted spot at Splendour in the Grass.
