More Splendour tickets coming following speedy sellout

As was expected, Splendour in the Grass for 2010 once again sold out in a matter of hours, though not without mishaps as Moshtix struggled to cope with the sheer demand for tickets. Fear not though, as more tickets will be released in a few short weeks.

Camping tickets were once again the hot commodity, selling out fastest. Despite the huge camping capacity increase with the move to Woodford in Queensland, the 20,000 camping and festival tickets were all snapped up around midday. What was left of the 10,000 event-only tickets were all gone a few hours later.

In a statement, event producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco said: "We are overwhelmed by the demand for Splendour tickets, we cant keep up with it! We’d like to thank everyone for the continued support and for embracing the exciting changes taking place for our 10th birthday, it's going to be one super fun weekend."

For the first time tickets were sold exclusively through Moshtix, and the affair was not without hiccups. Twitter and Facebook were swamped with complaints of an unfair and bug-prone queue system. A statement midway through the day from Splendour tried to ease the pain: "Be patient with Moshtix, they’re doing a sterling job considering it is their first year managing this process."

Punters that missed out after spending most of their day playing russian roulette with the virtual queue system might not be so understanding, with countless reports on Twitter of folks on seeing their position go from 100th in line to 10,000th not once but many times. Many got through the queue but were plagued by errors in the checkout system and were given no choice but to start from scratch.

If you missed out you might still get a chance to pickup last minute tickets. This year there will be ticket reselling facilities where those with tickets that cannot attend can sell their tickets back to Moshtix -- minus booking and an administration fee of course -- for resale, giving quite a few lucky individuals a last-minute Splendour ticket.

Resold tickets will be available from May 31st, and all the details can be read on the Splendour in the Grass FAQs.
