Bob Dylan live in the 1980s is typically broken into three main categories. There were the early gospel years, the middle rockstar period (with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers as his backing band), and the later years that became the Never Ending Tour (currently in its 22nd year). Between the first two, the passion and conviction of the gospel years remained alive as the shows returned to increasingly secular content.
Tangled Up In Blue is a true juggernaut of a song, both in its original studio recordings and live, where the song has been rewritten and rearranged countless times in a way that is most fitting of the spirit of the original song.
This acoustic version comes from Paris 1984 and features almost entirely rewritten lyrics and some of the most powerful vocals you're ever likely to hear from Dylan.
