Having fronted the powerhouse Sydney duo the Fumes for the past eight years, Steve Merry is taking up a chair to play a handful of intimate solo shows throughout greater Sydney.

For almost a decade now, The Fumes have made themselves known as a duo almost unrivalled in the stakes of gritty, hard-arsed Blues. With tracks like 'Automobile' showing the heights of the upbeat side of their personality, hints were found on the phenomenal second album 'Sundancer' that the mellow side had a force of its own. Thus, with some downtime following a string of dates supporting Clutch and Calexico, frontman, guitarist and lyricist Steve Merry will be performing three intimate shows in Sydney as a solo act.

In an upcoming interview with Soulshine, Steve promised a set of laidback tunes accompanied by a handful of different guitars, some new songs, and a tongue-in-cheek claim to some poetry. These gigs are an extremely rare opportunity to catch one of Sydney's finest songwriters in a different light, so be sure to get out there this weekend for one of three shows in Newtown, Cronulla or Bulli.

The details are as follows:

Thursday 18th March
7PM @ Vanguard, Newtown NSW ($12)

Friday 19th March
7PM @ Brass Monkey, Cronulla NSW

Sunday 21st March
7PM @ Heritage Hotel, Bulli NSW
