Kim Churchill is a young guitar player making his Woodford debut in 2009. Building a name for himself, Churchill is surely going to be one of the big discoveries of many at Woodford this year.

Only 18 years of age but already making quite a name for himself, taking out first place in this year's Bluesfest busker's competition and touring with many high profile roots acts including Dallas Frasca, Jeff Lang and Ash Grunwald. Kim Churchill's prowess on acoustic and slide guitar make him a force to be reckoned with. Combined with powerful vocals and harmonica, Kim Churchill plays hard and dirty blues and roots with passion.

Covering similar territory to influences like John Butler and Xavier Rudd, Churchill does it with a level of energy not seen prior. Bluesy harmonica and a pulsating beat from a stompbox and tamborine keep things grounded while his hands blur into a frenzy on guitar. Using a highly percussive style of guitar playing creates a full yet melodious sound that few 'one-man-band' musicians before him could only dream of.

Kim Churchill will surely be a force to be reckoned with as he goes from strength to strength, and his five performances at Woodford Folk Festival will surely build crowd momentum over the week. Starting off on Monday 28th at the Blues & Roots Emerging Artists show at 3:45pm, Churchill performs across the week, including a 10:45pm slot at the Amphitheatre on Wednesday December 30.
