The Latest News Out of High and Dry
17 November 2009
With Sydney's High and Dry Festival only a couple of weeks away, it's time to get excited if you're lucky enough to have a ticket nestled in hand. If not, there has never been a better to get onto it as Soulshine's High and Dry news report covers.
Two day tickets, new transport options, more music and...a radio station? The folks over at High and Dry have been in a frenzy, addressing punter concerns and tacking on added pieces of wonder supporting its status as a by-the-people for-the-people festival. The latest news out of Camp High and Dry is as such:
1) Two Day Tickets
Addressing the concerns of those folks unfortunate enough to have to miss out on High and Dry's Friday eve, two day tickets are now available at the discounted price of $113. Which isn't too shabby at all for two days of festivalia...
2) The Intergalactic High & Dry Teleporter Bus
Hey, I didn't name it...and I very much doubt it goes to St Albans via Pluto, but it exists to shuttle you, the festival goer, from Central Station in Sydney to the festival site two hours North for $30. If you can't drive otherwise, the High & Dry Ride share forum can look after all your carpooling needs ( http://www.highanddryfestival.net/forum/)
3) More Musak
The line-up has now been fulled out to a fuller extent, that is, there will be more bands playing. Music. It's a music festival. The full line-up includes acts such as The Barons of Tang, Entropic, Brian Campeau, Juke Baritone and Melanie Horsnell...amongst 53 other splendid acts from Sydney and beyond.
4) A Raaadio Station?
Word has filtered through to Soulshine that High & Dry will be broadcasting live from the festival site with all your radio needs. Updates on the frequency available for your tunage, the duration of the broadcast and more will be updated on Soulshine when we get it all under wraps.
5) No, It's Not News Anymore...but Geez...BYO!
We could have filled this news post with three letters - BYO - and have whipped ourselves into an equal frenzy. This is fantastic news for the sustained mass of your wallet. High & Dry have negotiated a permit for alcohol to be brought onto the festival site, meaning the death of $7 festival beers, supplanted instead by the $2 a pop beer that you drag along from your local bottle-o. Whilst, understandably, glass is not allowed onsite, cans and keg systems are free to be lugged around and consumed for the duration of the weekend.
Stay in touch with Soulshine for more news and expressions of excitement for High & Dry as the festival date looms, including a rundown of the line-up and a festival guide. While you're at it, continue the discussion about the festival on our forums through the comments section below, or the forum itself.
