Southbound Second Announcement
8 October 2009
And then the Southbound family was complete.
That’s right, hot from the engine room of song we have the final batch of music’s finest names to add to the massive list of talent already coming to Southbound. And joining Western Australia’s very own Music, Camping and Arts Festival we have the mighty, mighty clan of disco, psychedelia, soul and hip hop that is The Phenomenal Handclap Band (US).
Also making their way Southbound for the celebration is Fully Fitted (US), starring none other than DJs Devlin and Darko of Spank Rock fame. And also rolling along to lay some funky beats is the king of cha-ching, DJ Cash Money (US). Bringing their sensational brand of stadium rock to Southbound will be London lads The Boxer Rebellion (UK).
Heading up the new rollcall of Aussie greats is the rising star that is Whitley. And joining him in his aural assault on Southbound is the one and only sonic surrealists Tame Impala, Melbourne mood-swingers Kid Sam plus local legends The Transients, Gentlemen Of Leisure, Shazam and Kit Pop.
So there you go – you’ve met the complete graduating Southbound class of 2010. See
below for the full line-up, day-by-day.
But as you know, Southbound never stops there. We’ll be announcing a massive variety of artists who’ll be busking, blazing and clowning their way through Southbound as part of the Fringe entertainment. Stay tuned for more details in the months ahead. Southbound has taken a massive leap forward this year expanding to a full two days, plus three nights camping. That means campers arrive Friday night and settle in for the exclusive camper’s only entertainment, day trippers arrive Saturday morning for a full festival feast, which continues into a full day of rockin’ on Sunday and campers waving goodbye on Monday morning.
And that means Base Camp will be stepping up a couple of notches – more comfort, more fun, more goodness. Expect more news in this shortly. Two full days. More than 60 international and national acts. Plenty more local acts. Three nights camping. One festival.
The sixth annual Southbound takes place on the second weekend of January: Friday, January 8 – Sunday, January 10, with campers departing Monday, January 11. And it all happens at the home of Southbound, Sir Stewart Bovell Park, Busselton.
Four stages, garnished with a colossal feast of art, culture and community at WA’s most environmentally friendly festival (with a brand new 2009 A Greener Festival gong smiling down from the wall).
