Punters who entered the Meredith Music Festival ticket ballot found out today if they were successful in the first round of tickets, with the festival's first lineup also announced today.

The festival's first eclectic announcement brings together a wide range of artists in Meredith's typical idiosyncratic fashion. From Australian singer-songwriter legend Paul Kelly to New York hip hop artist Pharoahe Monch -- and that's just the P's. Comprising of DJs, indie bands, 15 piece Latin ensembles and the City of Ballarat Municipal Brass Band once again back for good measure, Meredith is one of the few festivals that truly has something for everyone -- all in an idyllic natural amphitheatre with camping on-site and perhaps some of the cheapest drinks you'll ever come across at a festival.

Meredith this year takes place over the weekend of the 11th-13th of December 2009 at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre.

Owing to the festivals ongoing popularity, tickets are allocated by a ballot system that ensures that everyone who gets in early has an equal chance to get one of the limited number of tickets. The first round of tickets have now been offered but you can still enter the ticket ballot for subsequent rounds here.

The first announcement for Meredith Music Festival is:

AKRON,FAMILY, ANIMAL COLLECTIVE, BAG RAIDERS, CITY OF BALLARAT MUNICIPAL BRASS BAND, JARVIS COCKER, COMBO LA REVELACION, CROCODILES, EDDY CURRENT SUPPRESSION RING, SIA, HEAVY TRASH, PAUL KELLY, KID SAM, KITTY DAISY AND LEWIS, PHAROAHE MONCH, ROYAL CROWN REVUE, HENRIK SCHWARZ, THEE OH SEES, THE MIDDLE EAST, TUMBLEWEED, WHY?, PATRICK WOLF, YACHT CLUB DJS

plus more to come!

Check out the Meredith Music Festival website for more info on this year's lineup.
