Shaking loose with sophomore album Dr Boondigga & The Big BW, soul kings Fat Freddy’s Drop are back for two quick Aussie stops this October. Taking to the stage in Melbourne and Sydney the band that is without a doubt one of New Zealand’s finest exports will be ripping it up with music from their new album.

With a solid running time of seventy minutes, Dr Boondigga & The Big BW features nine tracks of indefinable music - born from Freddy’s live jams, fantastic voyages & many hours of beat reduction & sonic fine tuning.

Two years in the making the sophomore album has been worth the wait - shipping Gold on release in NZ, hitting Platinum in four days and landing the Number 1 spot on the NZ Music Album Charts for five weeks straight.

Freddy’s trumpet master Toby Chang enthuses that “we’ve absorbed a few influences along the way – Berlin bashment, Portuguese top forty, Tooting Bhangra Beat and Montmartre TV shop Techno Hi-Life”.

Fat Freddy’s Drop has paid several visits to Australia in 2009 - headlining the inaugural Days Like This! Festival in January and landing again in March for a whirlwind Dr Boondigga & The Big BW pre-release teaser tour.

The globetrotting band’s single of the moment is the soulful ‘Boondigga’ following on from by lead singles ‘The Camel’ featuring UK vocalist Alice Russell and ‘Pull The Catch’.

For a taste of Shiverman from Dr Boondigga, check out the epic 17 minute live clip of Fat Freddy’s Drop Siverman live at The Roundhouse, London, streaming exclusively on Fat Freddy's Drop TV now.
