Southbound gets festive with the introduction of workshops, circus performance and much, much more!

Southbound 2009 may have sold out in record time but the work is not finished yet! After unleashing our finest line-up of talent yet, we are mighty proud to announce another round of superb talent as well as a festival-wide eclectic explosion of visual art, circus performances, dance, experimental art and more, completing the Southbound 2009 experience!

First up we welcome Perth’s Will Stoker & The Embers into the Southbound family – the winners of this year’s heated StageBound competition. Then there’s JB Seedconquerors The John Steel Singers, all the way from Queensland. And news hot off the press is that Adelaide indie kids The Shiny Brights have taken out this year’sSonicbids competition.

But the music doesn’t stop there. We welcome Sydneysiders Bluejuice onto the Southbound bill (replacing The Cribs, who have unfortunately cancelled their Australian tour) and acclaimed beat-maker Johnny Gleeson – fresh with his Ibiza tan – headlining Saturday’s Coconut Club activities, along with some of the state’s most celebrated DJs.

On Friday the Groove Tent will be manned (or womaned?) by DJ Nina herself
(jetting in from Bali, where she holds residencies at Ku De Ta and Double Six), plus a who’s who of local DJs and Fringe performers.

Throw in a Lounge and Open Mic Stage (you know you want to), Healing Circleworkshops and some pretty zany Roving Performers and you have yourself a festival…in the true sense of the word.
