The second single of Finn's debut album 'I'll Be Lightning' lives up to all expectations of songwriting finesse.

The second single released off Liam Finn’s album ‘I’ll Be Lightning’ is this well put together 100% eco-friendly, recycled chipboard case entitled ‘Gather to The Chapel’. Well it’s not the packaging and physical CD, so much as the music on the CD which is inside the packaging. It also come with a filler DVD which has two clips from the album, one being for the title track and the other for ‘Second Chance’. Thankfully, we were even privileged with a second track on the CD, the b-side, ‘Lullaby’.

Now in regard to the music, I must say it has grown on me, evidently, being that my iPod says I’ve listened to it 20 times in the past week. The tracks are solid. The title track, ‘Gather to The Chapel’ is a magnificent arrangement of eerie strings, with a simple guitar rhythm played over the top. This is complimented by the lyrical finesse of his father, Neil Finn (of Crowded House stardom). The next track ‘Lullaby’ is although a step down from the first track, is still a beautiful song. The two vocal tracks overlaid on one another creates an elaborate sound that gives the lyrics a beautiful depth.

The filler DVD, although a filler is still a nice touch to make the money you pay not quite so painful and a real treat for those die-hard fans. The videos are quite spectacular in themselves, adding new facets to the music. They don’t however replace what could have been another couple of b-side tracks on the end of the single.
