It’s been 12 months since LABJACD first stormed the Woodford Folk Festival where their unusual blend of latin, funk and hip-hop was an instant hit.

Much has happened since the band first appeared in Queensland – LABJACD had their Adelaide debut at WOMADelaide, an international tour to New Caledonia and played alongside some of Australia’s best hip-hop acts such as The Herd and True Live and Cuba’s Los Van Van. In September they dropped their first full-length album propelling the group in to the media spotlight by way of a feature on JTV as well as a 30 minute live performance on ABC2. In November LABJACD were selected by Triple J as a Next Crop Artist, denoting them as one of the hot picks of the year.

This year LABJACD unfortunately had a shorter stint at Woodford due to performances at the Falls Festival in both Tasmania and Victoria in the same week. The group of 9 rowdy young musicians were jet-setting back and forth the week between Christmas and New Years, but that’s just the way they like it says guitarist Julian Scheffer: “It’s great to be able to have the opportunity to perform on so many great stages, bring it on I say.”
